Andre Bocelli What a Performance
I was a bit skeptical when my wife suggested we go see Stone Temple Pilots, it's not that I don't like his music, I do. Once Andrea began to sing I was hooked but that did not cap the evening. The talented vocalists he brought with him enhanced the experience. However I was not prepared for what transpired that evening. There were moments I wished I were able to stop everything and replay the intense vocal arrangements which swept the listener to heights where one never expected to go; so moving were his solos and duets.
The orchestra opened and I have to admit I thought my skepticism had hit the target. I thought I came here to hear Andrea and not some orchestra without him. Yet, shortly there after I found the direction of the orchestra to be very moving and bright.
After 4 encores, I believe that those who attended would agree. I remember thinking that such beauty is the best thing about being human; that among us are those capable of reaching out in an expression that transcends our perceived existences and reaches for the sacred. Okay, I know, wow a bit overboard but truly I wish you had been there. I believe you would have come away wishing you could start from the beginning and re-experience the evening once again.
Andrea gave an unforgettable performance and to those rated his performance negatively, perhaps your ear is better tuned than mine but I grew up with Mario Lanza and Caruso and figure if all those people at the Allstate are wrong then revel in your rightness because we don't care.
